Llanfairfechen is a sand and shingle beach and is quite popular with the locals. It is possible to sail at any state of the tide and with the sand bar just 50m from the shore N winds can bring 6ft waves! In SW winds, the water is flatter and excellent for slalom and speed sailing, though this location is not suitable for beginners because of the strong rip tide.
Getting there: From Colwyn Bay head W on the A55 until you reach Llanfairfechan. The beach is then signposted
